PANASONIC WV-3230 PRO-LINE COLOR VIDEO CAMERA The last of the classic home video
cameras that still used tube
technology! This was it. Before the introduction of the CCD cameras,
home video manufacturers tried one last time to make something a cut
above the
typical home video cam.
Panasonic produced this camera -- the WV3230 -- using what they called the Newvicon tube. The Newvicon was a cut above the typical old vidicon tube -- it did have a better-than-usual image quality in low light -- but, like all tube cameras in their day it still suffered from lag. This baby still works. I tested it recently using a VCR that has a built in video camera connector. Update: The viewfinder has apparently failed. All it shows now is a white vertical line. However, the camera works fine otherwise -- when plugged into a tv or monitor it presents as good an image as it ever has. The 3230 on-board features:

PANASONIC WV-3110 COLOR VIDEO CAMERA Mid 1980s video technology!
The WV-3110 was a classic home video camera that still used Vidicon tube technology! Tube technology was never all that great in low light situations -- and like most tube cameras the 3110 does suffer from light lag. This 3110 is still in working condition. I tested it recently using a VCR had the built in camera connector (powered from the VCR). The 3110 on-board features:
